HOW TO APPLY

If you have applied and there are outstanding documents that have been requested after initial application, please send those documents to [email protected].

The application for the 2026-2027 school year is available.  Review of new applications for the 2026-2027 academic year will not begin until mid-April 2026.

Do not use “Apply Now” to renew your scholarship if you are a previous recipient.  Renewal information will be sent in late April to those who have not yet received a scholarship this calendar year.  If you have updated your email address, please send an email to [email protected] to ensure delivery of renewal instructions.

Students wishing to apply for a Freedom Alliance Scholarship should first review the qualification and eligibility requirements to verify that they do indeed qualify for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship. The first step for those who believe they qualify for a scholarship is to complete the online scholarship application by clicking here to apply.

Please contact Dawn Brown, Scholarship Fund Administrator, if you have any questions at [email protected].

PLEASE NOTE: If you have previously received a Freedom Alliance Scholarship or are renewing your scholarship, please visit the renew page for your specific instructions and forms.

Upon receiving your application, Freedom Alliance will notify you by mail and/or email of the Reviewing Committee’s review and decision. All applicants must complete the online application and be ready to upload the required documentation before they are able to complete and submit the application.

THE APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  • Copy of your government-issued photo identification (Drivers License, Military ID Card)
  • Proof of Dependency: birth certificate, tax form which lists dependents, or military child ID card.  (Please note, if providing a military ID, that the front and back of the military ID must be submitted to show dependent’s name and military sponsor’s name.)
  • Certificate of Death (DD-1300) or VA Benefit Summary Letter from the Veterans Administration stating that the eligible Servicemember parent has been rated as 100% totally and permanently disabled.
  • If applicable, VA Decision Letter or VA Disability Rating Letter with individual conditions and ratings.
  • If applicable, DD Form 214 – for disabled veterans’ dependent children.  Please provide all pages of the DD-214.
  • Applicant must upload a 500-word essay or personal statement addressing one of the following topics:
    • As America prepares to celebrate her 250th birthday, how would you describe your family’s contributions to American history?  Please use specific examples.
    • If you could go back in time to participate in one event that shaped America’s 250 years of history, what event would it be and why would it be personally meaningful to you?
  • Official high school or college transcripts.
  • Please submit a high-resolution (at least 500KB) portrait-style JPEG photo of yourself which is appropriate for publication of scholarship award announcements. Make sure that it is taken in an appropriate setting and there are no other people, distractions, or watermarks visible.
  • High-resolution photo of qualifying parent.

All documents, except the requested high-resolution photos, must be submitted in PDF format and in an upright orientation for reading.  If documents are submitted otherwise, you will be asked to resubmit documentation appropriately, which will result in delay of reviewing your application.

If you are found to be eligible by the Reviewing Committee, there will be additional steps that will be included in your Conditional Approval letter/email, which will include the online Conditions and Details form accepting the scholarship and the Verification of Enrollment, Expenses, and Financial Aid to be completed by your school’s financial aid office. Once these steps are completed, the reviewing committee will do a final review of the application.  Submission of an application does not guarantee award of a scholarship.

If the reviewing committee awards a scholarship, a check will be mailed directly to the school address as provided by your school’s financial aid office on the Verification of Enrollment, Expenses, and Financial Aid.

Please Note:  Checks will only be endorsed to your school and will be mailed directly to your school’s Financial Aid or Bursar’s Office.  No check will be sent directly to a student under any circumstances.
