Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund Application for Returning Scholars

Welcome back! 

Please do not complete a new application if you are trying to renew your scholarship: you must contact our scholarship administrator regarding the renewal process.

You should receive an email with the information you will need to renew your scholarship in mid-April. Please remember that we award scholarships only once per academic year and you do not have to do this every semester. If you don't receive your renewal email by the end of April, please contact our scholarship administrator at [email protected]. If you have an updated or preferred email where you'd like to receive the link, please include your updated address. 

The renewal information email will include a customized link to the Conditions and Details Form (also known as the Blue Form) with a pre-populated application number assigned by our system; since the link is customized, it cannot be shared with another student. The email will also include the link to download the updated Verification of Student Enrollment, Expenses and Financial Aid Form (or Yellow Form); you will need to complete the top half of the Yellow Form, then print/save it, then give to your school's Financial Aid Office so they can complete the bottom portion of the Yellow Form and mail, email or fax it to us once completed and signed. Transcripts will also be required.

All documents must be submitted in PDF format.


Just like past years, once you submit all the forms required for your renewal application, our team will review and submit it to the reviewing committee for review and approval. Please keep in mind that we have over 550 scholarship recipients and we highly recommend that you continue to check on the status of your renewal paperwork with us to ensure your scholarship renewal is processed prior to the start of classes. We advise you complete and submit the forms and renewal process early, including turning in the Yellow Form to your school's Financial Aid Office before leaving for summer break so your scholarship award may be mailed before payments are due.

We are excited to work with you again this year. As you know, this scholarship must be used for tuition, fees, room and board, books, and other institutional charges as defined by your school. If you transfer or withdraw from the school to which this scholarship grant is paid for any reason, you must notify our scholarship administrator so she can tell you what steps you need to follow. Please keep in mind that the unused funds must be refunded to Freedom Alliance in order for a scholarship to be re-issued to your new school.

Once your application has been submitted, our team will review your materials for a renewal of your scholarship and will get back to you soon.

The Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund:

The mission of Freedom Alliance is to advance the American heritage of freedom by honoring and encouraging military service, defending the sovereignty of the United States, and promoting a strong national defense.

One of the ways we carry out our mission is by providing financial assistance for higher education in the form of Freedom Alliance Scholarships.

These scholarships are awarded to the deserving sons and daughters of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Guardsmen whose parent died or is permanently disabled (100% VA Rating) as a result of a combat mission or training accident which caused an immediate inability to continue serving.

Scholarships are awarded annually to full-time students enrolled in undergraduate studies at an accredited educational/technical institution.

Scholarships are renewable for up to three years, providing that the recipient remains a full-time student and maintains a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).


How to Apply:

Students applying for a Freedom Alliance Scholarship should first review the eligibility requirements, then complete the digital application. 

This application is for first-time applicants only; if you have received a scholarship from us before, please contact our scholarship administrator at [email protected] and she will let you know what you need to do to renew the scholarship for the current academic year.

 

Eligibility:

Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund applicants must be one of the following:

The dependent son or daughter of a U.S. Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Guardsman or Marine who has:

  • Been killed in action.
  • Become 100% total & permanently disabled as a direct result of a combat mission, with priority given to those who have a single combat-related disability rated at 70% or more. This does not apply to Servicemembers who have Silver Star or Purple Heart Medal recipients as they only need a combined 100% Total and Permanent disability rating. (Qualifying parent must have received an Honorable Discharge.)
  • Suffered a major limb amputation due to enemy action
  • Been classified as a Prisoner of War (POW) or Missing in Action (MIA).
  • Been awarded the Medal of Honor, the Navy Cross, the Distinguished Service Cross, the Air Force Cross, or the Coast Guard Cross.
  • Been involved in a training accident that resulted in the death of the service member or caused an immediate inability to continue serving (100% total and permanently disabled).

 

All applicants must also meet the following eligibility requirements in order to qualify for a Freedom Alliance scholarship.

  • Currently attending the spring semester of their senior year of high school, a high school graduate, or a currently enrolled full-time undergraduate student.
  • Under the age of 26 at the time of application.

 

Applicants should be aware that simply because an applicant may be eligible, not all eligible applicants will be awarded a Freedom Alliance scholarship. By submitting an application to Freedom Alliance, you release and agree to hold harmless Freedom Alliance or employees from any liability whatsoever in connection with submitting an application, accepting any prize, or anything that may arise related to the scholarship.

No applications or documents will be returned to the submitter. The application and documents will become the property of Freedom Alliance, and Freedom Alliance may use them as it sees fit.

By submitting an application, you accept the terms and conditions which are non-negotiable and subject to change at the sole discretion of Freedom Alliance.
